The Human Library Experience is a platform where persons with mental health conditions take on the role of Human Books to share their innermost thoughts about their mental health journeys and the value of peer support, within the boundaries of a safe space.
The human library offers a unique, honest and up-close experience to engage in authentic sharings, normalise conversations surrounding mental health, and break down barriers to reduce mental health stigma.

This is an experiential platform where peers take on the role of Human Books to share their lived experiences of recovery to inspire others who are facing similar struggles, or those who are thinking of seeking help. By communicating our feelings, thoughts and stories, we can advocate for the normalcy of mental health conversations while breaking down barriers of stigma in the wider community.
If you are corporate or Institute of Higher Learning thinking of partnering with us to bring this experience to your workplace and schools.Â

We invite interested peers to join us as a Human Book, where you will receive specialised training on how to share your recovery journey to empower and inspire others. Upon completion, you will be allocated as a human book for at least two human library events a year. Your willingness to step forward to own and share your lived experiences will go a long way to advocate for the destigmatisation of mental health, and build your personal confidence in taking charge of your recovery.
You can also volunteer with us as a Librarian, where your primary role will be to care for the wellbeing of the human book during human library events and facilitate and moderate open conversations between readers and the Human Book during the sessions.
Specialised training will be
provided by RC with
opportunities for deeper
interaction with the human
books to facilitate better
understanding of the
various aspects of mental
health and rapport building
with the community. Upon
completion, you will be
allocated as a librarian for
at least two human library
